Does the console server DHCP server issue IP addresses to network-attached hosts? Opengear's IMG4xxx and IM42xx console servers have additional Ethernet network ports that can provide management LAN access and/or broadband failover/ OOB access. When the console server is in management LAN mode (or management LAN gateway mode) a DHCP server becomes available (although it is still disabled by default).
When enabled the DHCP server automatically distributes IP addresses to devices running DHCP clients on the management LAN. Once enabled and configured with the Domain Name plus the IP address for the Gateway and DNS server to be issued. The DHCP server will allocate IP addresses from the specified dynamic address pools. Default and maximum lease time (that is the time that a dynamically assigned IP address is valid before the client must request it again) can be specified, and IP addresses can also be reserved (to be used by connected hosts with fixed IP addresses) or pre-assigned (so they will only be allocated to management LAN connected hosts with specific MAC addresses).
