SNMP and SMTP alerts/traps for serial ports and hosts The Alerts facility enables data stream and accesses to be monitored for trigger conditions. When triggered, an Alert message is emailed to a nominated email address or an SNMP server is notified (or an alarm is sent to the central Nagios server if SDT Nagios central management is configured ). For all console servers the Alerts facility can be enabled on any and all serial ports or connected hosts. This is configurable from the Alerts&Logging: Alerts menu on the Management Console :
The trigger condition can be set for each port on
It is also possible to programmatically read the serial data and the status of the signal lines of the serial ports on the console server using pmshell. The command # pmshell -l port02 --signals, for example, will output signal status in the following format DSR=0;DTR=0;CTS=0;RTS=1;DCD=0 Refer faq243 for more info on SNMP set up and MIBs. |
